Marc Lynch will discuss his new release, The New Arab Wars: Uprisings and Anarchy in the Middle East. Lynch is professor of political science and international relations at the Elliott School of International Affairs, GW, the Director of Project on Middle East Political Science (POMEPS), a co-editor of political science blog the Monkey Cage hosted on the Washington Post, and a nonresident senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He recently was recognized as a 2016 Andrew Carnegie Fellow for ongoing research on the changing Arab public.In his latest book, Lynch examines the international dimensions of the wars tearing apart the Arab world and how the optimism of the Arab uprisings has spiraled into retrenched authoritarianism, civil war, and humanitarian disaster.
